You should write your own golden rules of blogging.

The Golden Rules of Blogging

Before I started writing and blogging again, I read hundreds of articles about blogging and the skills that help advance your blogging beyond mediocrity. I’ve found some good golden rules articles, but most of the content was full of self-replicating rules and click bait websites. Everyone just seems to have only one thing in mind, MONEY. The same content repeated all over again, with different wording and It really surprised me how strongly everything seemed to work around the money. The article’s main message was “how making money on blogging” and I think that has nothing to do with the golden rules.

I believe that the most important golden rules in writing is to blogging for yourself and that you enjoy writing.
“Give yourself time and just write what comes into your head.”

I believe that the most important thing in writing is to blogging for yourself and that you enjoy writing. Give yourself time and just write what comes into your head. There is no right or wrong thing to write and you don’t need to publish it if you don’t feel comfortable publishing it. Just forget the rules of blogging and write more content and find your true passion for writing. You can always edit a bad page and learn more about the rules, but you can’t edit a blank page and passion for writing is not something you can learn. Your blogging is like a small tree and everytime you write something it makes your roots grow deeper. The deeper your roots go, higher your tree will grow, but the tree will not be likely to produce fruit as early as if you buy a young tree. Don’t forget to shower your tree with a fresh post or it will slowly die. Let time be your ally and patience be your friend.

Every day I feel like I'm developing my writing skills one step at a time. Blogging gives me the motivation to keep moving forward and even when things feel impossible with all these golden rules.
“Don’t forget to shower your tree with a fresh post or it will slowly die”

To be honest, I’m still struggling with my writing, and I feel sometimes that I’m wasting my time. Also, I’m not a native speaker of English, and neither a language expert, but every day I feel like I’m developing my writing skills one step at a time. My goals give me the motivation to keep moving forward and even when things feel impossible. I’m still at the beginning of my journey, but I’m learning every step of the way. Now I need to grow my roots before my small tree will begin to grow.

Here you can find more useful information if you are struggling with the writing.

  1. I agree that many many bloggers are all about money. Don’t get me wrong, as a blogger, I’d love to earn a respectable amount of money from it, but that isn’t my main goal. I started my parenting and mom life blog with one specific goal in mind: to help and support other moms who may not have a big support system. I have had a fair amount of success in the short time I’ve been blogging. But I don’t measure that success in dollars. I measure it by people who have commented or contacted me to tell me that I have helped them in some way. For me, that’s what its about.

    1. I got your point and as a father of small kids, I really appreciate your work. Blogging for me is like a tool to keep my thoughts together and ways to learn prepare for myself for the future challenges. Getting money would be a nice bonus, but it wouldn’t change my goals.

  3. This is fantastic advice; there is so much pressure to blog to a formula that you lose sight of the writing. I am currently working on just my content as that’s what I have a passion for.

  4. I liked the insight on this blog entry. Instead of focusing on the writing or sharing a story it becomes how can I monetize it. Which is understandable, but shouldn’t be the only focus.
